The W.O.A Metal Battle South Africa returns in 2017! Join us at Wolmer Bush Lounge in Pretoria on the 11th of March where we will choose one band to go through to the final in Jo’burg on the 6th of May.
Timeslots will be drawn on the night, to give all bands a fair opportunity to play to a nice crowd, so pull in early!
These events are not just a platform to showcase the finest in the local underground – but also to elect our champion to represent us at the Mecca of Heavy Metal worldwide, Wacken Open Air!
As per our usual policy, ALL funds generated by door sales will be given to the winning band to cover tour expenses – so play your part!
R50 is all it takes to witness the best – and send the best of the best to Germany.
The Battle lines have been drawn!

ARCHSPIRE – One Night Only
BloodBeast #10 on African Metal’s top 100 African metal bands!
“Moving away from Lelahell’s ambitious death metal is a band from down South that plays death in a manner principally akin to the way those who invented the subgenre played. This band is Bloodbeast and is fronted by Van Zyl Alberts who is also no spring chicken. Van666 first came to the scene with Architecture of Aggression where he exercised his guitar skills over a landscape of conceptual death metal that was highly critical of religion and societal establishments. He has since moved on with Bloodbeast who are leaner, meaner and more menacing than a thousand other bands who only claim “brutal” than actually play it. Bloodbeast’s recently released Out For Blood places them damn near top of the heap when it comes to deeply searing old school African death metal that is utter realness”.-African Metal
